About Advanced GRC

Three decades bringing the right technology to government regulation.

Advanced GRC builds the software governments rely on to license, permit, investigate, and enforce — and re-engineers the legacy systems they've outgrown. We've done this work for more than thirty years, and our first government customer is still a customer today.

Our story

From a business plan at Columbia to statehouses across the country.

Advanced GRC began in 1992 as a business plan written at Columbia Business School, backed by a grant from the school. The founding idea was straightforward: build software that organizations in regulated industries — healthcare, finance, insurance, and government — could genuinely depend on.

Over the years the company built products, and as they matured, spun several off into standalone companies. The thread that endured was government. In 1995 we took on our first government customer — a New York State regulator — and more than thirty years later, they are still a customer. Everything we do today grew out of that work.

In the 1990s, Advanced GRC built one of the first internet-based licensing systems for insurance regulation. A national insurance-standards organization acquired that system and worked with us for a decade to deploy it across multiple states — early proof of the regulatory-technology expertise AGRC brings to government today.

What we do

Products for government regulation — and the engineering to modernize what came before.

What started in insurance licensing now protects the public across many domains, in two ways.

Purpose-built platforms

ALiS for licensing and permitting, Resolve for casework and investigations, and specialized solutions like FDS for financial disclosure — across healthcare, the judiciary, and labor and industry.

Custom development & modernization

Where a program needs something built, we build it — from disease-surveillance systems for a major city health department to full replacements of aging legacy platforms.

Depth in the work

A strong track record in case management, too — from fraud investigations to complaints, financial disclosure, and ethics oversight.

Part of Auctivo

Regulation and compliance are two sides of one function.

Late in 2024, Advanced GRC was recapitalized and became part of Auctivo, a group focused on governance, risk, and compliance. We see regulation and compliance as two sides of the same function: Advanced GRC brings technology to the regulatory side — the agencies that license, oversee, and enforce — while other Auctivo companies serve the compliance side in specific markets. The shared goal is to serve both the regulators and the regulated, better than either has been served before.

What we stand for

The right technology, brought to government.

Government work carries a standard most software isn't built to meet: it has to be accountable, defensible, and low-risk, because the public depends on it. That standard is what we design to — purpose-built platforms configured to each agency's statutes, delivered without the risk of a ground-up build. More than thirty years in, it's still the whole point.

At our largest state deployment, a single regulator runs its entire licensing operation on AGRC:

450K+
Active licenses under management for that one agency.
Millions
Transactions processed for that agency every year.
68
Distinct license types — for that single agency alone.
Since 1995
Our first government customer is still a customer today.
